Global Education Activities & Materials
buildOn program members are committed to making both local and global change.
In the United States, buildOn teenagers are sharing their lives with elders at senior centers, cleaning up our nation’s parks, serving food to those in need, and so much more. But,they aren’t stopping with their own communities! Students are raising money to build schools in the developing world and travel to swing the pick axe alongside community members while being immersed in the culture. buildOn's Global Education monthly-themed curriculum is the connection between the domestic and international work. Students and staff facilitate activities that include first-hand accounts from the countries we work in. For more information, please contact Rosann Jager, Trek Manager, at rosann.jager@buildon.org.
Monthly Themed Materials
Monthly topics include Education, Water, Food, Health, and the Environment, each brought to life by connecting students with real people from the communities where we work. Each month includes a community service activity and a sponsorship activity, both of which are tied to the global education theme.
September: Education
Each year, an estimated 110 million children will not see the inside of a classroom. Another 150 million children will drop out before they finish primary school.
