Set your personal fundraising goal and start early by using the steps below.
Step 1: Analyze Your Goal
$2,500 might sound like a lot of money, but when you break it down, it becomes less daunting. Think of it as 50 donations of $50 - a great starting donation.
Step 2: Examine Your Network
Make a list of people you know. Highlight people in your address book or e-mail list that you can ask to donate. Start with your family, friends and co-workers, then expand your list to include people they know.
Also, think of places you go every week: church, school, a fitness club. All of these people can help you reach your goal!
Step 3: Ask!
Whether it is in person, by mail or online – the most important step in raising money is to ask! Writing a letter or picking up the phone and explaining why you believe in buildOn and its mission is the most direct way to raise funds.
Here are some other fun ideas:
- Host an international cuisine dinner party in your home and ask your guests to donate an "admission fee."
- Host a poker night. Players will “buy” their initial bank at an agreed upon amount. The winning pot will be donated to your fundraising campaign.
- Join a marathon. Ask your family and friends to support your every mile.
- For the holidays, ask your friends to donate to your fundraising instead of buying you a gift.
- Ask your company to support your fundraising or to match your gift.
Step 4: Thank Your Donors
buildOn will be sure to thank all of your donors, but nothing will mean more than a personal thank you from you! Be sure to drop your donors a hand-written note or a thank you e-mail to let them know you appreciate their support.
Good luck and thanks for raising funds for buildOn!
